Jason Spezza and Chris Neil, seatmates in the Ottawa dressing room, started some fireworks at the end of today's practice with a brief fight.
It started when Neil slashed Spezza. Spezza slashed back. At that point, the gloves came off.
A couple of glancing blows were thrown before teammates broke up the fight.
Spezza brushed it off.
"I don't know what happened," he said.
"As teammates, sometimes you get into it. It was just a (spitting) match.
"I'll buy him lunch today. But I knew when he dropped the gloves, it was time to get out of there. Just stay at arm's length."
