Sens Underground Forums > Cap Problem Solved?
He has indeed retired, too bad he never got the chance to fend off players in the playoffs with a pair of separated shoulders for us, but still appreciated what he did, even if it wasn't quite at the level you would hope for from him. At least there's no snowblower laughing diabolically at him from the back of his retirement presser. Now the team's about $1.5M under the cap, enough to give Murray breathing room for any deal, so it's just a matter of getting the right return and no longer as much about dollars.

You would hope so for now. 2.6 I believe off the cap can only help.

According to sportsnet Jason Smith is set to announce his retirement today.
Whilst this is good news cap wise I think it's s ahame that we got to see Smith at the wrong end of his career and for a season which went wrong for a whole number of reasons.
Other than the first few games he didn't seem to be the player we wanted, expected or needed to be. Of course it didn't help that the number one shut down defender going into last season Mr Phillips had an absolute shocker.
