Unfortunately, today is the 20th anniversary of Betty being named commissioner of the NHL (started Feb 1st of the following year). However, not even this can tarnish the date. Other happenings on this date: Randy Sexton was fired and Pierre Gauthier was hired as GM, and Radek Bonk played his 500th game in a Senators uniform.
