I don't get the the $2,500 maximum fine for players. Torts got $20K for his comments about Pittsburgh last week.

What is that $2,500 to a guy who makes $7.5M? If David can check my math, that's the equivalent of someone earning $75K getting fined $25.

My recommendation for fines is to do it by a game percentage of income, ie fining the player 25% of a game income for a minor things up to 100% to penalize the player but not the team. If something merits a suspension, then you do it from there. It's fair because it hurts the player in the pocket book.

Another idea is if the league merits that a player was injured by another player in an intent to injure, like the Duncan Keith on sedin, that team should have to pay the injured player....that would be a major revamp though, but if you take money out of your owners pocket, you'll hear about it
