So I was thinking, why doesn't the team call-up 4-5 players from Bingo (like they did last year), and rest some of the vets and/or banged up players on this arduous, long-ass trip? They called up the young guns (out of necessity) last year, and it worked out well.
The team has played out of their mind in Dec. and deserves a good break to recharge the batteries for the 2nd half and the playoff run. And the callups will also get a taste of the big times, while underperforming vets will get a wake up call.

These guys are super overracting to OV. I don't remember a big deal when Crosby missed with a fake injury, or when he missed the CHL Cherry/Orr game....I'm going to the game and paid highly for it. I'm disappointed in missing ovechkin for this, but it's his way of sticking it to the league, and I'd probably do the same
