Sens Underground Forums > Sens Re-sign Lee to a two year deal

one word on this puzzling bit of news "WHY"

What are the dollars? I don't really get it, unless Murray is looking to flip him in the summer for something. Let's face it, he's never going to crack this line up on a full time basis, he just doesn't do anything really well. He's just mediocre at everything.

Good move. I still think he will evolve into a decent NHL player. He's got skills but he is not a big strong guy and will have to learn all the little tricks. I think he has looked better the last few games than he did earlier this season. At worse, he could be valuable body in a trade.

I sort of had the mindset that in making this move, Murray would then flip him to another team during the draft perhaps for possibly another winger or defenseman. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

TSN reports that it's a two year $875K per year. His rookie contract was a three year $850K per year plus $400k per year in bonuses. I'm not sure if the bonuses were signing bonuses (ie guaranteed money) or if it was a performance bonus.

I just hope that this is a two-way contract. He certainly hasn't earned a one-way deal.

If Murray could have moved him by now, I think he would have.

It is a one-way deal.

Well, we are short on D-men. In General Lee we trust I guess...

I nearly cried in my car when I heard that we signed him to a one way contract for 2 years...

Does that mean Campoli is on the outs? Or is it just a trading piece at a relatively low cost?

that's a pretty movable contract if murray should ever want to trade him.

Why the hell would it be one way? If he's here next year, he's on the team. Just doesn't make sense to me unless it was two way....

I've always had a soft spot for Brian Lee. I have seen him make mistakes, but so do the veterans. If he doesn't get a chance to play, he's not likely to improve. God knows we are short on defencemen.

So I ask in all sincerity, what is it about Brian Lee that you guys do not like?

i think it's his lack of progress over the years. but it's not a heavy contract so whatever.

plus you got to remember they are up to the cap and they will need cheap guys his contract is nothing relative to others.

Wouldn't you know that Edmonton is now playing their best hockey of the year and their Goalie is hot.

It's purely a numbers game. Ottawa desperately needs cheap bodies to fill out the roster next season inorder to stay under cap. There is no one else in Bingo that is ready to play D fulltime and it's hard to find anyone better UFA for that money.

Hopefully Kuba is a goner. That will free up cap and roster space for Volchenkov. Who knows maybe Sutton will take a discount (considering he's 34) and sign at 2 a year. Guy is getting up there in age so maybe 2 years 4 million is a good offer.
