Sens Underground Forums > TRADES DAY!!

Ok... Trades are slowly trickling in...

One trade I wish Brian Murray made was trading a late round pick for D Milan Jurcina. That guy was a beast for Team Slovakia against Team Canada. Now the Caps have him. Great!

bit weird that, as they traded him away earlier this season

they've also just picked up corvo for pothier and a pick

Great ... now when we play against Washington, we have to clamp down on Ovechkin, Semin and Backstrom .. and, oh by the by, stop that Corvo dingus from scoring from the point against Ottawa (as he is wont to do).

I guess that it's good that Murray wasn't going to upset the apple cart to get another defenseman, but even one name-brand guy would have been nice.

At least he got a Kingston boy, though ... ;0)

From Faceoff.com:
There had been some talk that Murray might seek a puck-moving defenceman to back up youngsters like 19-year-old rookie Erik Karlsson and Chris Campoli, but nothing materialized.

"We, earlier in the year, talked about wanting to do that, but with the development of Erik Karlsson, we felt that area certainly was looked after with (Filip) Kuba," he told reporters at Scotiabank Place Wednesday. "We think Brian Lee can move the puck, we know that Campoli can move the puck and now, with Erik developing, our play in that area should be okay.

"There are guys out there that would be interesting to our team, but obviously we couldn't pay the price to get them here, but I feel fine about that," he added.

LOL ... I can hear Shredder screaming from here ...

Capitals also signed Eric Belanger and Scott Walker.

can't believe calgary signed toskala - do they honestly think they are better with a quarter of their team being made up of players who were on the abject Leafs this season?

Sutter has gone full 'tard

I gotta believe Murray's words... He must be OK with Lee now because he could have easily traded him today for a 3rd round pick.

Cullen's been a bust so far; Zach Smith playing as a call-up would have been better. Let's hope Cullen finds a role by playoffs time.

I was hoping Murray could trade M. Brodeur for like a 4th. He is a UFA and will likely sign somewhere where he can get a 1 way deal. It's also too bad Murray couldn't find a way to package Lee and the pick for a bit more of a household name than Sutton. Also, I wish he would have found a way to trade Donavan because he deserves to play. Chances are this is his last contract and no player wants to fill the press box for the last season of their career. I like Sutton and Cullen and I think both will fit in fine. Sutton's transition will likely be smoother than Cullens though.

Trade day seemed so slow. There were a fair amount of trades, but no blockbuster deal made it boring. I'd say the trades for Poni and Leopold make Pittsburgh much better. Washington improved their team, just not in the right area. As for Ottawa, Murray stuck to his game plan and got Sutton. I would rather Murray do that than make a splash just for the sake of one.

I was surprised to hear that Buffalo wasn't active trading today because the are up against the salary cap. Who the hell do they have besides Miller?

And just when you think Toronto couldn't get any worse, Burke proves us wrong.

Didn't Buffalo get Raffi Torres? But the good news today was Buffalo lost for the second nite in a row, tonite to the Caps.
