That wasn't exactly what we had in mind when we said it would be nice to get off to a fast start.
This week there's a whole lot of confusion in Ottawa, and not just on the ice. We fans are more than a little perplexed as to how our boys could look so totally unprepared to start the season. Somewhat surprisingly, one of the few silver linings we can take out of an 0-3 start is the play of Pascal "I can't get a break" Leclaire. Even after playing very well for the most part, one stinker at the wrong time has his critics all over him already and we wonder if one of those critics might be his coach.
With so much ugliness against two of our biggest rivals, the slugs and the laffs, you won't be surprised to find alotta rage in this episode. So, to lighten the mood a little, we bring in our friend James Gordon from the Ottawa Citizen to help makes sense of this early season mess. James may be the perfect Underground guest. He seems to fit in perfectly with that Groundhog state of mind. (We hope he doesn't take that as an insult!)
We also discuss the the slow starts of Karlson (unexpected), Kovalev (expected), various suspensions handed out in the first week of the season (Shredder and Stooli have a great tussle over the Pominville hit), get an inside look at how the refs react to certain players, and Daniel Alfredsson is recognized for his off-ice greatness for a change.
Look at the bright side, it can only get better, right? Enjoy the podcast.
